Virt Remote Privacy Policy
Last updated August 16, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Virt Remote handles information when you create an account and use private messaging, Virt user contacts, calls, remote capture, media upload, notifications, reporting, and Library features.
2. Information You Provide
Depending on what you choose to use, you may provide account email, display or profile information, a profile image, messages sent to other Virt users, contact requests and connection choices, reports or complaints submitted through the app, and photos or videos created or transferred through remote capture.
3. Information Generated by Use
The service generates or processes account and user identifiers, authentication and session records, call metadata, capture-session metadata, media metadata, notification device tokens, crash diagnostics, basic app/device/platform information used for service operation, server request logs, and abuse-prevention or rate-limit records.
4. Camera and Microphone
Virt Remote uses camera and microphone access for calls and remote-capture features only when you use those features and grant the required operating-system permissions. You can change camera and microphone permissions in your device settings.
5. Photos and Videos
Photos and videos created or transferred through remote capture may be uploaded to Virt backend storage and associated with the relevant capture session. Access is limited by the implemented session and media ownership model. Photo-library access is used for profile image selection and media features only when you choose those actions and grant permission.
6. Messaging, Contacts, and Reports
Virt contacts are connections between Virt users, not your device address book. Messages are delivered to the Virt users you choose to contact. If you block or report another user, report details may be reviewed for safety, support, abuse prevention, and service protection.
7. Notifications
Virt uses push notifications for service-related events such as messages, contact requests, and incoming calls. Virt does not currently use push notifications for marketing.
8. Service Providers
Virt uses service providers to operate the app and backend. Current implementation includes AWS infrastructure, storage, and email services; Firebase/Google push notification and crash diagnostics services; and a TURN/ICE provider for call connectivity. These providers process information only as needed to provide and protect the service.
9. Security
Virt uses safeguards such as authenticated access, HTTPS/WSS transport, private media storage, restricted media access, and operational rate limits. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Retention and Deletion
Virt retains information as needed to provide the service, protect users, prevent abuse, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and operate backups. There is not currently a fixed automatic retention schedule for all data categories. In-app account deletion anonymizes the account, removes login credentials, revokes sessions and refresh tokens, removes device tokens and Virt contact relationships, and returns the app to the logged-out state. Some shared records such as messages, call/session history, reports, and media records may remain associated with an anonymized/deleted account identifier unless separately deleted or required to be retained for safety, security, backup, or legal reasons.
11. Account Deletion
You can request deletion inside the app from the account menu by choosing Delete account and confirming the destructive action. You can also request account deletion outside the app at https://virtremotecapture.com/account-deletion or by contacting thevirtproject@gmail.com.
12. Children and Minimum Age
Virt is intended for users who are legally permitted to use the service. Do not use Virt if you are not allowed to use this type of service under the laws that apply to you.
13. Changes
This policy may be updated as Virt changes. Material updates will be reflected in the app or on the Virt website as appropriate.
